    2. I think it's very interesting to see that more women are affected by this disorder than men.

    3. It's strange how on the website there's an image of two women even though men suffer from eating disorders as well, and I think this underrepresentation prevents men who do have eating disorders from seeking the help they need.

    4. I think it is very interesting that there are a very good amount of men who suffer this disorder. I honestly believed there were fewer than said in the article suffering from a eating disorder.

    6. There is this show called "Super-size vs Super-skinny". I am not sure if this is the exact title of the show, but it shows two people with eating disorders struggling to eat healthy and find a better diet. Some of the contents from this show might you some insights on your topic.

This link talks about one story of an undocumented immigrant.I feel like many undocumented immigrants can relate to some parts of his story. It can somehow fit to my research paper.

    1. I was surprised to learn that the author is Filipino and it made me consider how when "immigrant" is used in America, it ignorantly implies that person is from Latin America when that's not always the case.

    2. How does this fit in your research?

    3. What happened among these undocumented immigrants?

This tweet was featured on a news article from CNN and I think it is really telling of how people, but the younger generations especially, don't appreciate the importance of voting and that lack of recognition leads to jokes like this, ultimately wasting votes.

This link is about memes that are created about Obama and Biden. It pokes fun at what the POTUS and VPOTUS might have said to one another in each occasion. The memes have been going around for a long time but has gone viral after the election took place. This is what memes do; memes bring laughter to people and people themselves together. The American Dream is about people coming together whether it is about business or personal ideas.

    1. I feel like "memes" have turned this election more into a joke and made people think it was less serious than it really was.

      Delete
    2. I agree memes are meant to make people laugh. But, I do not think that meme was appropriate for this occasion because some people are really scared of being themselves, due to the results of this election.

      Delete
    3. Think this whole year were full of memes including the election, may also be one of the reason why many people are in shock

      Delete
    4. I agree that the memes were funny, but I feel like they made this election look like a joke which isn't funny.

      Delete
    5. Memes and jokes similar to them have definitely made the election feel comical. Its one thing to be satirical but if it goes to far, it can cause things to just be a joke.

This article discusses a hate crime that recently occurred in Wisconsin where a student from Saudi Arabia was assaulted and later died from his injuries. Many people believe he was targeted because of his ethnicity and religion. With Donald Trumps campaign and election victory, more and more hate crimes have been occurring all around America.
****** before anyone starts commenting that trump isn't the reason why all these hate crimes are occurring, im JUST saying that there have been more recently

    1. SInce the election, things have been wild probably because of shock but its sad to see people in the same country going against each other.

      Delete
    2. I feel as though its the fact that they got more attention now not more so of them occurring more. Hate crimes has always been an issue but because of the election and everything going on, it gained more spotlight than before.

      Delete
    3. I love that you had to add a disclaimer just not to feel attacked. Besides that I have heard about numerous events like this happening and I believe on his most recent interview Trump replied by saying that the hate crimes must stop. But honestly I feel that things that he said during his campaign doesn't match what is being said now.

This video is about people who came to America and are undocumented citizens fighting to get themselves and other children a chance to become legal and live out their American Dream. Even though this happened in 2012/2013, this relates to what is going on today because the people who are ahead of this organization are now afraid of being deported.

im doing my research paper on violent video games and their effect on children aggressiveness. this article is similar to what i refer to in my paper. the fact that some vido games influence kids to act a certain way. but in this article its about a recent event of an 18 year shooting people and then having been discovered that he was a fan of a violent video game

    1. A friend of mine recently did a research paper about this topic. I suggest adding some pointers about why some parents allow their kids to view such violent contents.

    2. Almost 90% of guys in my high school were into violent video games but almost none of them are violent. The fact that violent people play violent games is just part of chance.

      Delete
    3. I can relate to personal experience. Having a video game as a resource, it's very dangerous. The wrestling and gun games can cause a lot of aggressiveness and impatience. Kids tend to act up and kids don't pay attention to the consequences.

I've said this before. The American dream nowadays is more difficult to achieve due to unequal distribution of opportunities and wealth. In this video, you will see how our perception of wealth or distribution is way off the realistic distribution of wealth.

This article is on my research paper which is about common core. Donald trump wishes to replace Common Core which many people may support while some may not. BUt the question is if Donald trump has something better to offer than Common Core.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I'm one of those people who feel that common core should be replaced. I work with elementary school kids now and they all doing common core. It's ridiculous what the system is making them do and "learn". But I agree about questioning whether he is going to replace it with something better or not.

      Delete
    2. I agree that common core should be replaced due to my experience working at a prep center for a period of time and seeing the things that elementary kids have to learn compared to when I was in third grade.

      Delete
    3. Most teachers disagree with the common core and they know best about this, so we should put our trust into their judgment. The replacement of the common core, could simply just be a return to the traditional methods of teaching.

This article discussed something about obesity that I found interesting. It said that physicians don't know how to get their patients to lose weight anymore. It has now come to organizations to raise awareness and help educate the population to fight this epidemic.

    1. I agree with it because the patients should also be more concerned about the danger of obesity.

This article gives a personal experience of someone who noticed signs of abuse in her neighbor, but never got the chance to help. Often, signs go ignored because we fear helping because if not successful, things will only get worse for the battered woman.

    ReplyDelete

    1. This is very true because sometimes the woman has no where to go, so they choose to stay with their abuser. They either don't know about shelters or fear about what others might say if they do go to a shelter.

    2. I feel like the victims of domestic violence should ask for help and step up to fight against the abusers.

    1. It was very interesting to see the different methods other than animal testing. Makes me wonder why they don't just use those methods, instead of harming animals.

    2. I don't understand why companies feel to still test products on animals now. Technology is so advanced, just like your source says there are other ways to test the products out.

    3. It is crazy to think that highly successful brands can get away with inhumane animal testing. This topic is very interesting.

This article argues that the American Dream could be rebuilt in a more effective manner by focusing on the smaller scale (i.e cities and towns), rather than the larger scale. In a smaller scale your voice has more impact, like at a city council meeting.

  19. https://www.technologyreview.com/s/601499/basic-income-a-sellout-of-the-american-dream/

This article analyzes an idea that has been rising in Western Europe, guaranteed base income. It appeals to progressives through its welfare like system and also appeals to conservatives with the idea that this would reduce government bureaucracy. The article goes on to say that this idea would work best in an industry that is mostly autonomous but that isn't projected to happen for at least 30 to 50 years.
